Connect2Hackney is recruiting on behalf of Hackney Council for an experienced Children's MASH Social Worker to join the borough's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is a vital locum opportunity where you'll be at the frontline of safeguarding, making critical, timely, and evidence-based threshold decisions to protect children and support families.
About the Role
This role focuses on ensuring a child-centred approach in every aspect of decision-making. You'll assess safeguarding concerns and determine the most appropriate interventions or support pathways, working within a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess child protection and safeguarding concerns in line with the Hackney Wellbeing Framework and London Safeguarding Children Procedures.
- Use relevant legislation, guidance, and research to inform decisions.
- Conduct MASH checks by collecting and analysing information from professionals, partner agencies, and family networks.
- Work within agreed timescales to ensure prompt and appropriate action.
- Handle incoming calls from professionals, the public, and others, including urgent child protection referrals.
- Signpost to appropriate services or support pathways as required.
- Focus on achieving positive outcomes for children and families through effective and proportionate safeguarding or early help measures.
- Collaborate with multi-agency professionals to assess and manage risk effectively.
What You'll Need
- Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Experience in safeguarding and multi-agency working.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with professionals and the public.
- Strong analytical and organisational abilities to manage high-pressure, fast-paced decision-making scenarios.
- A commitment to anti-racist, trauma-informed, and child-centred practice.
- You will be line managed by an experienced Team Manager who will support your development and wellbeing.
